My Story - Howard Craft

Howard Craft - My Story

After graduating from Swansea University with a degree in Environmental Biology, I began my career within BGL at Redbourn Golf Club as Deputy Course Manager in January 2010. I spent two years at Redbourn before I decided to change my career path into club management and away from Greenkeeping. I started in the role of Manager in Training at Hoebridge in January 2012. I spent two years as an MIT and during that time I was Acting General Manager at Thornbury Golf Centre and Abbey Hill Golf Centre whilst new General Managers were recruited for.

In January 2014 I began to assist Hugh Knowles in the opening of our third Adventure Golf site at Junction 32 shopping centre in Castleford. I helped to project manage the build and recruited the team for this new business. I then moved to Ramsdale Park Golf Centre to help open the Adventure Golf site in July 2014.

In October 2014, I moved to work full time at Ramsdale Park, running this busy centre for almost 18 months before starting as General Manager at Wycombe Heights in March 2016.

Throughout my time at BGL I have learnt a great deal and been given some fantastic opportunities to develop my knowledge and management style. I have been fortunate that senior managers within BGL have allowed me to use my environmental degree through the GEO certification environmental programme, that I helped to facilitate for each of the 10 sites during 2014/15.
